The Sacrament of Baptism

The ceremony of baptism is performed during the Holy Mass on Sunday:

• at 1:00 pm (in Polish)
• at 9:00 am (in Ukrainian)

A child, at least a week before the baptism date, should be reported to the parish office.

During the registration the birth certificate and the act of a church wedding of parents should be declared.

Data needed for Parish Baptism Register Book:

• Personal data of parents (name, surname, date and birth place, names and surnames of grandparents of baptized child), a confession of faith, address.
• Personal data of godparents (name, surname, birth date, address, confession of faith (the godparents must be Catholics of Greek or Roman denomination)). 

In case of baptism of a child out of the Cathedral parish the permission of parish residence of parents is required.

Godparents must have:

• At least 16 years old;
• Sacrament of Confirmation;

Before the baptism the godparents have to declare a certificate from parish of their residence which confirms that they are practicing Catholics (people living in relationships outside the Sacraments cannot be the godparents).

On Friday at 7:00 pm before the Sunday’s baptism parents and godparents of a child take part in the meeting which itself is the preparation for deep and religious experience of the celebration.
