The First Communion

Sacraments

„At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet ‘in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Pallottinum 1944, p. 319).

The preparation to the First Communion and hence to the First Confession in our Basilica is conducted for children of the third form and for older children which for various reasons have not partaken this sacrament yet. The Catechesis are conducted side-by-side in both languages from September till May each Saturday at 12:00 am. The child’s baptism is the necessary condition to partake the Communion.

Adults who want to partake the First Confession and Communion have the individual preparation under the parish priests’ supervision.
